Set in the 1860s at the end of the United States Civil War, the series centers on Cullen Bohannon, a former soldier and slaveholder, who is determined to exact revenge on the Union soldiers who murdered his wife. This brings him to the middle of one of the biggest projects in US history, the building of the transcontinental railroad.
